8 Months Old

I was changing Luca's clothes and couldn't

resist taking pictures of him

and his sweet bare baby skin.

At 8 months Luca:
1. continues to be a cooperative and flexible baby. He is always up for anything/everything.
2. is currently cutting a tooth. He doesn't seem too unhappy about it right now. Let's hope this continues tonight when we are all trying to get some sleep.
3. has been sleeping through the night w/ an occasional waking. Big improvements! Thank you Lord!
4. has chosen to get up EARLY everyday. (no later than 6:00 am-Just like his brother)
5. LOVES to see Daddy and Jack walk in the room. (I am apparently old news and boring. I guess he gets enough of me during the day)
6. sits up on his own.
7. willingly eats all of his solids.
8. feeds himself snack puffs and is slightly addicted to them.
9. has recently developed stranger anxiety.
10. wants to play with big brother's toys.
11. will lean forward onto his hands and knees when sitting down as if about to crawl.
12. does not like being on his stomach very long.
13. has picked up a couple of high pitched screeches.
14. and has hair that hangs over his ears.

My Quirky Little Boy

Jack is currently obsessed with the #4. I think it's because he is going to be 4 and all of his friends at school are turning 4. One day he decided to practice writing the number and then decided he wanted to post all of his work on the wall! He was so proud of his work and it would have destroyed him if I had said no. So off he went to use his CHRISTMAS GIFT-TAPE to put up all of his fours. -No I do not like the added decor but I figure it is only temporary. As a matter of fact this morning he said he was ready to take them down. I was so glad until he said he thought he should replace them with the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10! :-)

Please Pray for Leah

Leah and her family attend our church and are a part of our Fellowship Family. Leah is 2 1/2 and was born with a very serious heart condition. She is in the hospital in Dallas, and had a heart catheterization today. Her parents received the news that she will need a heart transplant. Please pray for this sweet little girl and her precious family.

7 Months

Basically..this is late and in a couple of weeks I will post an 8 month entry!! Yikes!

At 7 months Luca:

1. SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! :-) It happened last night and we are crossing our fingers for more of the same.
2. enjoys eating all of his solids.
3. is learning how to feed himself snack puffs.
4. can put the cylinder in the appropriate slot of his sorter.
5. had his first really bad cold. :-( Everyone was miserable.
6. absolutely LOVES his big brother. He gets very excited when Jack walks in the room and could watch and laugh at him all day.
7. prefers to sit up rather than lie on his belly or back...and doesn't roll around as much because of it.
8. babbles mamama, dadada.
9. likes to hold his own bottle and chew on the nipple.
10. no longer has a clogged tear duct. :-) Praise God. No more gunk.
11. is very short. See above stroller picture. I forgot to mention his stats from last month. @ 6 months he was 15 lbs. 4 oz and 24 inches long.
12. goes by Lucaboo and Lucadoo
13. when not sick, he is just the happiest and yummiest baby ever! I just cannot give him enough kisses. Sometimes I just want to eat him up!

Things we are working on: sign language for more, waving bye-bye, sorting shapes, pulling up and with much reluctance scooting/crawling. (I just love observing and being a part of all the learning and development that is taking place. I thank God for Luca and Jack and for allowing me to be their Mom and for giving me the privilege to experience Him in this way.)

Bless this Mess


This is one of the many messes I get to deal with from day to day. Here we have a random assortment of rocks, dinosaurs, and a plastic pirate ship that Jack was floating and playing with in the kitchen sink. (The last thing I need is for one of those rocks to fall into the garbage disposal..) Anyhow, Jack loves taking ALL of his toys out and making huge messes. He is not so fond of cleaning up and does not like getting rid of things. He makes it nearly impossible to purge out his toys. I think he gets this from his mama. (Kind of hard to train your child to do something you have difficulty with...) 

Other happenings: Both Jack and Luca have been sick with a cold. Jack has missed 2 days of school and Luca had a rough day today. Poor guy was just miserable. He called it a night at around 6:30. I am sure this means we will be up with him at say 4:30 am. Mommy has neglected her school work and needs to read and write up a draft of a research proposal within the next 24 hours. And Daddy has been busy with recording music.

NOTE: That is NOT the bottle brush we use to wash Luca's bottles. This is an old brush I saved specifically for Jack to use when he plays. ;-)
